Tsubaki Susumu was a Partner and Managing Director at The Boston Consulting Group, Japan. He implemented business strategy, M＆A strategy, new business startup, and globalization projects among others for high-tech, telco, web, and media content sectors. He was stationed at the San Francisco Office from 1995 to 1996. His experience consulting for major telcos, mobile phone companies, machinery manufacturers, high-tech component companies, gaming firms, and television stations, as well as IT and web firms, consumer goods companies, and more spanned 15 years. In 2006 he was appointed Representative Director of a listed company. He has also served as an External Director for Tomy Company, Ltd., Tatsunoko Production Co., Ltd., Atlus Co., Ltd., etc. Tsubaki established Pan Asia Partners Co., Ltd. (now Asia Africa Investment and Consulting (AAIC)) and was appointed Representative Director and Partner. He carries out new business development, market penetration support, M＆A and partner sourcing support, business conversion support, etc. through consulting and investment in developing countries including China, Southeast Asia, India, the Middle East, and Africa. In 2014, he formed Japan’s first Africa-focused fund and implemented operations.

Tsubaki graduated from the Department of Pure and Applied Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences at The University of Tokyo.
Shigeru Handa is a seasoned professional with over 20 years in business development consulting experience in the private sector as well as in international development. He has extensive experience in leading multi-national management teams even in fragile states. Handa has consulted and provided a variety of business processes and strategies: developing business/project formulations; designing methods for financing and investment structures; managing and monitoring projects for developing socio-economic infrastructure, including electricity and healthcare. In Japan, he supported companies in reforming their business portfolios and developing business investment strategies. He worked with pharmaceutical companies in enhancing their marketing and sales strategies.
He is currently in charge of sourcing and evaluating innovative businesses as well as advising companies on formulating their business and partnership strategies for entering the market in Africa and the Middle East.
Handa has worked at Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Boston consulting group (BCG: Japan), Natural Lawson and United Nations Development Program (UNDP: Total of 8 years in Jordan and Iraq). He holds a Bachelor of Law from Kyoto University, a Master of Public Administration and a Master of Accounting, both, from the University of Southern California (USC), USA.
At Nomura Securities Co., Ltd., Koike was involved in a sales role, an overseas training program to study fund management, a secondment at a hedge fund subsidiary and in analyzing and evaluating investment trusts. At Unison Capital, he was directly involved in five investees including Kiriu and Kracie, and in the entire private equity process including sourcing, due diligence, contract negotiations, monitoring, and exit. He moved to Singapore in 2010 and is involved in referring private equity investment projects and consulting on project execution, as well as M&A advising.
Koike graduated with a degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics at The University of Tokyo, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Member of the Securities Analysts Association of Japan.
Hiroki has professional experience of both corporate banking and management consulting. Prior to AAIC, he worked for Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation and Accenture Japan Ltd. Currently, he is in cha RGE of sourcing, due diligence and monitoring process for a social venture fund, “TOYOTA TSUSHO CSV Africa Pte. Ltd “. He also supports Japanese companies to start up their business in Africa. He is based in Nairobi, Kenya since 2015.
Hiroki holds a Bachelor degree in Managerial Accounting from Kobe University (2003), and an M.B.A from The Chinese Univers ity of Hong Kong (2012). Africa Business Idea Cup 2016 judge.
At Recruit Holdings Co., Ltd., Harada was involved in sales for human resources. She subsequently joined the infrastructure finance department of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation. She moved to Rwanda in 2013 to join Rwanda Nut Company Ltd, which she is currently managing.
Harada graduated with a degree in International Relations from the Faculty of Law at Hitotsubashi University, and with a Master’s degree in Financial Engineering from the Economics Faculty and The School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of Essex.
Nobuhiko Ichimiya is a Consultant of AAIC. He was CFO of an E-commerce start-up company in Rwanda invested by one of the biggest Japanese IT companies and led the finance team to work on the implementation of the governance prior to joining AAIC.
Ichimiya was also engaged in power infrastructure industry especially about IPP/IWPP for 7years. He served as a Senior Manager- Commercial and Finance in Marubeni Power Asset Management in Abu Dhabi, UAE for 3years. He worked on the accounting, tax, commercial challenges of 10 projects in Middle East (UAE, Qatar, Turkey, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Tunisia) co-working with the management of project companies. He also took the board sheet of 5 project companies and worked on the negotiation and relationship among shareholders. Before that, Ichimiya worked as Financial and accounting coordinator in the Power and Infrastructure division in Marubeni Corporation for 4 years and worked on Account closing and budgeting/forecasting of subsidiaries and affiliates in Taiwan, UAE, India, South East Asia.
Ichimiya holds a Bachelor of Arts in Commerce from Waseda University.
Christoffer was engaged in Mergers and Acquisition, new business planning and strategy development in Asia . He has experience in project management, due diligence and valuation of companies. He has also help developed and implement growth strategies in developing countries in Asia.
Christoffer holds a Bachelor degree in Mathematics and Economics from Nanyang Technological University (2014). He speaks English, Mandarin and Japanese.
David worked at Ernst & Young LLP as an audit assistant where he specialized in the audit of Not-For-Profit Organizations before joining AAIC. At AAIC, he is an analyst doing commercial and financial due diligence.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce specializing in Finance and Accounting from Strathmore University and has done ACCA up to F9.
